Community Human Services - Casa de Noche Buena
Casa de Noche Buena (CDNB) in Seaside is the first homeless shelter specifically for women and families with children on the Monterey Peninsula. Operated by Community Human Services in partnership with Gathering for Women – Monterey, the shelter can accommodate up to 35 guests. It offers shelter, meals, and supportive services aimed at achieving permanent housing. Guests may keep their belongings onsite during their stay.

Community Human Services - Shuman Hearthouse
Shuman HeartHouse provides shelter, meals, and comprehensive wrap-around services for homeless women and families with children. Services include case management, housing navigation, employment assistance, and referrals to medical, mental health, and substance abuse services.

Safe Place Salinas is a Youth Navigation and Resource Center helping homeless youth aged 18-24 transition to permanent housing.
How to Get Started
Drop-in hours Tuesday through Sunday. Housing Navigator available Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Appointments recommended but not required.Services Offered

Salvation Army - Frederiksen House
The Frederiksen House program is a 90-day shelter for families with children under the age of 18 who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Potential applicants must first complete a phone screening before being interviewed and placed on our waitlist. Applicants must be prepared to share information and documentation for the household regarding:
- Homeless status
- Employment status
- Current household income
- Child custody
- History of substance abuse and recovery
- Criminal background

One Starfish - County of Monterey Safe Parking Program
Program Requirements:
- Proof of Monterey Peninsula residency.
- Valid CA driver’s license, CA vehicle registration, and insurance.
- Alcohol and drug free, free of police warrants.
- Agreement to work cooperatively with One Starfish staff.
- Shared goals of obtaining transitional or permanent housing, an increased source of income, and access to adequate health care.
- Development of a plan to save for future housing.
- Monthly assessment of progress for parking permit renewal
- Twice-monthly meetings with the case manager to assess progress toward goals
- One Starfish does not accept guests with severe mental illness. These applicants are referred to outside agencies.

YWCA - Monterey County - Domestic Violence Shelter (Women & Children ONLY)
The YWCA Monterey County operates the county’s only crisis line, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Domestic Violence victims are encouraged to seek help. You are not alone, and we have ways to help you change your circumstances. Trained advocates answer each call to provide clients with safety plans, resource referrals, and, when necessary, immediate access to one of our confidentially located safe houses.
