The California Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) offers assistance programs to help low-income households pay their energy bills. Here are some key programs:

  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): Provides a one-time payment to help with heating or cooling bills, even if you use wood, propane, or oil. You may also be eligible for in-home weatherization services.
  • Eligibility: Income eligibility varies depending on household size, income, and location. May qualify up to $1,000 for past due bills. For example, a household of 1 can earn up to $3,170 per month, while a household of 4 can earn up to $6,096.25 per month.
