Community Human Services - Safe Passage

The Safe Passage program provides 18-24 months of transitional housing and support services for homeless youth aged 18-24, including those aging out of foster care. The program offers case management, counseling, life skills education, and referrals to community resources to help residents achieve stability and independence.

Requirements:

  • Age 18-24
  • Experiencing homelessness or aging out of foster care
  • Referral through the Coalition of Homeless Service Providers
  • CARS assessment

Community Human Services - Street Outreach for Youth

Street Outreach Programs for Youth Provides crisis intervention, food, clothing, counseling, and life skills education to homeless youth. Goal is to build trust and provide safe exits to permanent housing. Services are free in English and Spanish.

Requirements: None specified, open to homeless youth up to 24 years old.

The Epicenter - Services for Youth

The Epicenter is a youth-led organization in Monterey County that empowers at-risk and system-involved youth (ages 14-24) to thrive. They offer various services, including:

  • Housing Support: Assistance with finding stable housing
  • Education: Help with college applications, scholarships, and academic support
  • Employment: Job training, resume building, and employment opportunities
  • Health and Wellness: Mental health services, wellness activities, and LGBTQ+ support

The Epicenter also provides on-site services like free printing, Wi-Fi, a teen closet, and a community kitchen.

Salinas Street Outreach

The Salinas Outreach and Response Team (SORT) is a city-funded program that provides outreach services to the unhoused population in Salinas. Their goal is to build trust and connect individuals with supportive programs, emergency shelters, and housing services.

  • Engagement: Actively locating and building relationships with unsheltered residents
  • Case Management: Utilizing coordinated assessment systems and providing referrals to supportive programs
